Lac Daniel U+Th+Ree prospect.

Approx. location

Lac Daniel Prospect Summary

Historical data confirms the Lac Daniel claims in northern Quebec show significant potential for mineable ree mineralization. Here are the key facts

  • Mineralization style at Lac Daniel: The deposits associated with peralkaline complexes like the Strange Lake Alkalic Complex (SLAC), located near the Quebec-Labrador border, provide a good analog for the Lac Daniel area. At Strange Lake, mineralization occurs in the most exotic, incompatible element-rich phases of the peralkaline granites, which are formed during late-stage crystallization. This is a common characteristic of such deposits, where rare metals and radioactive elements are concentrated in late-stage rocks and veins.
  • Mineralogy and concentration: Peralkaline granitic rocks are known to be naturally enriched in rare elements, including U, Th, and REEs. The enrichment can be economically significant, and minerals carrying these elements are disseminated within the host rocks or found in veins.
  • Unexplored: The 9 REE zones discovered in 2009 remain unexplored.

  • Potential for Economic Deposits: The presence of multiple mineralized zones and lateral extensions suggest the potential for economically exploitable Ree deposits, similar to Strange Lake REE deposit.

Assessment Reports' Key Data

Azimut's 2005-09, +$8,000,000, exploration discovered the North Rae & Lac Daniel area with uranium mineralized pegmatite fields. Pale yellow uranophane-stained and/or coated surfaces are common.

Azimut envisioned the potential of:
-  an open pit mineable deposit  and,
-  the formation of a higher grade unconformity deposit at depth.

Specifically,

"The primary objective of the 2009 work program was the channel sampling of selected mineralized exposures on the main known uranium pegmatite showings. The secondary objective was the examination and prospecting of the main known showing areas as well as the exploration of several additional targets as selected from previous airborne survey data.

A total of 82 channel samples were taken on the Daniel Lake Property - 67 on the Puqila North Zones and 15 on the R7 zone. Radiometric anomalies selected from the airborne spectrometer surveys were ground-checked. This included more detailed prospecting in the R7 area.

The Puqila Zones are a series of loosely connected mineralized pegmatites and boulders occuring along a 7 kilometre NW-SE trend, located just east of the southern part of Daniel Lake.

The best uranium mineralization discovered to date on the property is the Puqila North pegmatite.

(The Puqila Centre pegmatites, located just to the south, exhibit great strike extent but are only moderately mineralized, and therefore were not channel-sampled in 2009.)

The Puqila North Main Zone is dominated by a large exposure of mineralized, coarse-grained, undeformed, quartz-feldspar-biotite pegmatite sill measuring over 20m across, as explosed along a northwest-facing hillside. A total of 56 channel samples gave an average uranium grade for the Puqila Main Zone of 296 ppm U or 0.035% U3O8.

This grade compares well with the composite drill hole average from the two short 2008 holes.

Prospecting in the southeast part of the Daniel Lake block led to the discovery of additional mineralized pegmatites within the shallow south-dipping succession of Lake Harbour Proterozoic metasediments. A distinct layer of banded grey and white quartzite within the metasedimentary sequence was found to be anomalously radioactive. This layer appears to be a conformable, continuous stratigraphic unit within the gently south-dipping sequence.

Both uraninite  and  pale yellow uranophane-stained and/or coated surfaces are common.

ATI - Permit authorization in Quebec

Claim holders may carry out mining exploration activities on the land covered by their claims without requesting an ATI authorization within the meaning of section 69 of the Act. An ATI authorization is not required for exploration activities carried out without the use of hydraulic machinery or explosives and, in the case of gold mining, without the use of a hydraulic pump. Exploration work such as line cutting, manual rock stripping using a shovel or water pump, geological, geochemical, stream, lake or soil surveys, surface and drilled geophysical surveys, manual sampling of rock and soil and drill holes in overburden using a manual auger and a non-hydraulic portable drill do not require an ATI. Claim holders may also carry out all their indirect exploration work without first obtaining an ATI. Indirect exploration work is work carried out without direct access to the site (e.g. geophysical surveys carried out from an aircraft or helicopter or using a drone, remote sensing surveys and satellite surveys).

Iron Bear Fe Royalty

Torrent Zone U+Th+Ree prospect

Location:  NTS  24I05

The ore body is located near the North Rae property, southeast of the community of
Kangiqsualujjuaq, (Ungava Bay) in Nunavik, between the George River and the Koroc River.

Mineralization is associated with granitic pegmatite dykes or granite intrusions in the
orthogneisses of the Baudan Complex. The granites contain biotite.
The granitic pegmatites are hololeucocratic, coarse-grained, and rich in biotite
(5 to 20%, sometimes up to 80%). They are generally pink.

The quartzofeldspathic gneisses are composed of biotite and, locally, hornblende.
They are leucocratic. They are mainly granitic in composition and sometimes contain bands
of amphibolite and paragneiss (GM 65084 and GM 65167).
Paragneisses are also observed. These paragneisses are rich in biotite, belong to the
Lake Harbour Group, and are associated with amphibolites.

Zone A-5 (S) Au+Cu+Ag pospect

Zone A-5 (S) remains untested along two major faults where the au mineralization is similar to carlin style deposits.  (GM57979)

   Lithology:

The structurally controlled mineralization consists of a series of quartz-carbonate and radioactive mineral veins within an altered gabbro sill inserted into the sandstones of the Upper Indicator Formation along an ESE axis over a distance of approx. 1 km.

The mineralization is silicified and rich in sulfides found in shear zones along the sill contact
zones similar to the Zone L's Au deposit (further east, on sheet 23D02).

Location:

Link to the live mapping app.

Mineralization:
Mineralization consists primarily of pitchblende in quartz and carbonate veins.
A large number of minor secondary minerals are also present, including pyrite,
chalcopyrite, hematite, native copper, bornite, galena, chalcedony, pyrolusite,
leucoxene, malachite, ankerite, gypsum, and dolomite (GM 57979).
A zebra-like texture of carbonates is noted cutting the gabbro (GM 65244).

Major structural control:
Feeder dykes cutting the sandstones of the uppermost Indicator Formation and
shear zones along the sill contact zones.

Grade Results:

GM37384: L-36g: 8056 ppm U; L-36d: 1102 ppm U.

GM57979: 731084: 37 g/t Au, 75.5 g/t Ag, 1.57% Cu, 1% Pb, 771 ppm Te;

731083: 12.3 g/t Au, 100.6 g/t Ag, 0.29% Cu, 1% Pb, 1169 ppm Te.

GM58683: 5 out of 19 grab samples returned gold grades above 1 g/t in athin vein, trench S-2, of

the S showing: 1.396 g/t Au (M764116); 1.837 g/t Au (M764118); 4.868 g/t Au.

M764104:13.22 g/t Au

M764110:13.63 g/t Au

M764115:Grab samples 2678, 2679 and 2682, located between 300 and 400 meters to the southeast, returned respective contents of 1065 ppm U, 3106 ppm U and 2147 ppm U.

The values vary between 609 and 5098 ppm U3O8.

GM65244: Sample 2678 also returned contents of 725 ppm Au, 11.6 ppm Ag and 2060 ppm Pb.

Boréale Exploration (GM57979) conducted a limited resampling of the Cogema's trenches &
drill core results as per charts below:

trench resampled data

Limited DDH core is resampled

The GM57979 report concludes:

"only a small proportion of the drilling conducted on the property has been resampled. It is

therefore encouraged that all available drilling be reexamined and resampled.

Furthermore, with a view to a Carlin-type context, the Lac Carré and Lac Cigare faults, along

which the carbonate horizon is offset, remain targets to be tested."

and states:

"Two hypotheses have been put forward to classify this deposit.
COGEMA considers that it is a deposit similar to the L zone, consisting of uranium
mineralization in a lithological and structural trap marked by a particular stratigraphy and
by the albitization of the gabbro.
Another hypothesis recently put forward by Boréale Exploration suggests that the mineralization
is more gold than uranium and that many similarities exist between the model proposed by
COGEMA and the Carlin-type deposits.
Gabbro is invoked as a source of heat for the water table and the Péribonca carbonate
formation would have constituted both a thermal screen and an oxidizing aquifer."
